We are on the lookout for an MCR Engineer, interested in working alongside a leading distributor of live content on a 12m Fixed Term Contract, starting immediately. Globally, they distribute media in all forms and are now looking for a passionate and driven individual to join their MCR team based in London.

The MCR is responsible for managing a range of permanent and occasional use content services across fibre, internet, satellite and cloud. The primary focus is on high value live sports transmission.

Key duties include:

  • Providing day-to-day operational support and troubleshooting duties.
  • Primary support and operational duties for the MCR, Internet Delivery Network (IDN), Global Media Network (GMN), Special Events Network (SEN) and cloud platforms.
  • Undertaking pre-event checks and configuration of broadcast encoders and decoders.
  • Monitoring and switching live services (lines in and lines out).
  • Evaluating signal quality and platform stability at both an IP and HD-SDI level.
  • OTT service delivery and management.
  • Satellite downlinking and line-up to EBU standards.
  • Scheduling of kit and capacity management.
  • Booking feeds with uplinks when needed.
  • Operating software-based recording and playback devices.
  • Providing first line support to issues and incidents and implementing service restoration procedures.
  • Recording incidents and irregularities.
  • Monitoring system alerts and performance thresholds and identifying preventative action.
  • Communicating with suppliers, partners and customers as required.

Technical Proficiency

  • Providing feeds across complex and evolving SDI and IP systems
  • Controlling and preparing resources for requirements across the UK and Nordic regions, including major football events and 56 digital channels
  • Learning and understanding new systems and workflows in a fast changing environment whilst maintaining high availability of service
  • Line up of incoming video, audio and communication circuits from both Discovery and third-party broadcast production facilities
  • Packaging production resources together for ease of use across the company (video, audio, multi-language commentary, IFB, 4-wires, reverse video feeds)
  • Satellite downlinking including dish positioning and decoding
  • Management of incoming audio circuits and commentary facilities to ensure commentators are assigned to the correct feeds for transmission or production
  • Routing and switching of feeds, based on the internal booking systems to Production Control Rooms, Multi-Function Rooms, Voice Over Booths & Live Transmission SuitesIt’s a fantastic opportunity to work with a company going through expansion and adding more channels to their client portfolio all the time while adopting the latest technologies.
